Thanks to the Labor Day weekend I’m, FINALLY, getting the time to write a blog post! How can 6 weeks have passed since my last entry I wonder? Answer: 10 days between ATL and Vegas shows, then only 2 weeks between Vegas show and when I flew home (to Indiana) for the Chicago (IGC/Independent Garden Center) show. In that limited window of time I was trying to catch up, get organized and attend to what was right in front of me.
I caught a red eye to Indiana so I could spend 2 days with my Mom (she’s 96), before driving up to Chicago. Grateful to have the time to spend with her and soak up some Midwest thunderstorms/humidity!
Overall I was pleased with the orders written in all shows. As noted in ATL, the Vegas show was slow but even with that I did have good conversations and promising opportunities plus wrote orders. Chicago was the last and best show I did for the summer. Thrilled with the response to ALL product from those that stopped in the booth. What was very encouraging was the fact that many of the orders written in Chicago had a variety of product, which meant the total order dollar amount was higher than average.
Best of all, I had the company of my sister Beth in Chicago. She’s a schoolteacher in Upper Michigan and choose to spend her last week of vacation helping her sister! We had a great time hanging out, dining with our cousins one night and friends of Beth’s another. Just to be in the energy of Chicago and the near north side is always fun…and with the venue of Navy Pier, which juts out into Lake Michigan, it was an overall stunning show. I’ll definitely be repeating that one next year!
As always, a picture is worth a thousand words so I’ll attach a plethora of pictures!
