It’s Friday, December 5th, 2014 as Mark and I travel back to San Francisco. When we came through ATL airport on Thanksgiving afternoon it was a very quiet place. This afternoon it’s back to normal. People rushing here, there and everywhere, off the airplanes, down the concourses and on to next flights. We are among them. Only our flight has been delayed for over an hour so here we sit, after a yummy late lunch at PF Changs, waiting for our flight to board.
Thankfully time to catch up on a blog post. Have just spent a week in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. It was part vacation/part work but really we came here to spend time with Myress, Mark’s Mom. She’s 88 and has some health issues. Mark is one of 5 children and all have been coming down to check in with her. We are grateful for the fact that Seth, her grandson, lives with her and she has a terrific caregiver, Nancy, who comes by most days. It’s rather scary to consider what all of us baby boomers will be facing as we age. So it was with heavy hearts that we said good-bye to Myress this morning. Especially hard as I said my final good bye to my Mom 6 weeks ago when she passed away.
This fall has been a whirl of time passing from the 10 days spent in Indiana to jumping right into my book launch when returning to the Bay Area then up to Seattle for a week for more book events and visiting family/friends. Before I knew it, it’s Monday of Thanksgiving week and I flew back to SFO from Seattle and 3 days later on a plane again for Ft. Lauderdale. I was looking forward to the much-needed down time. I’ve been so busy this fall that my own artistic endeavors and journal writing have taken a back seat to all the things that needed attention. So it was with much delight that I found time to sit and play with my watercolors, Mark and I took time to ride beach cruisers most days and we appreciated the beauty all around us, from the colorful Adirondack chairs to the endless waves of the Oceans and the incredible morning and evening skies along with the blowing palm trees. Life is good especially when taking the time to visit loved ones, capture beauty of the day in paintings or photos and get your battery recharged!!
